The SBD-3 Dauntless Dive Bomber was the main scout and dive bomber plane of the US Navy. It is responsible for inflicting lethal damage against the four aircraft carriers of the Imperial Japanese Navy Akagi, Kaga, Soryu and Hiryu during the battle of Midway, and even before it performed numerous successful air missions, but the potential of the Dauntless was greatly exploit and effectiveness at the battle of Midway. Like the VB-6 squadron who struck most of it's bombs in the carrier Kaga, it has a total load of a thousand pound bomb, along with the squadron VS-6, for an over 27 dive-bombers dive. The Dauntless was still lately being used by other nations just prior to the end of WWII, It entered service in 1941 until 1944.

It was more like of a chance than a miracle at Midway , Admiral Nimitz made a bold decision to meet the Japanese fleet despite the mismatch.
